This mentality of some of our support to not except players can have a better influence on certain games to others and vice versa is unbelievable. It is about time we had two contrasting young players vying for a position...but no...one has to be gash, shit, dross for the one they like to play.....

...it's a squad game and ours is never quite well backed up but it's beginning to be and we should look to encourage this not back stab our own players with ignorant comments.

Fornals is far from gash. That’s just ridiculous.

Bowen also needs a kick up the arse with his decision making. Too many times he’s shot when other players have been in far better positions. All said though I like him a lot.

Haller & Fornals are gash. End of...

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man Utd - Official Match Thread
I’m one of Haller’s biggest critics but he’s stepped it up over the last couple of games and he’s working harder too. It makes a huge difference. I think him being dropped when Antonio returned has given him a good kick up the arse.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man Utd - Official Match Thread
I thought Haller played quite well, apart from when he fluffed his lines and tripped over his own feet. He might have been offside anyway. Fornals should have done better with his header that went in the side netting, and was unlucky when he hit the post.

Could not see the game, yet saw a highlight of Hallers miss and tripping over. So gutting.

Overall what is the consensus on Hallers performance yesterday?

It seems to be general consensus that we didn't get the result our play deserved yesterday.

That's why I never moan about picking up 3 points like we did against Villa.

One good thing that came out of the last half hour yesterday was that Haller and Benrahma were linking up well and showing signs of a developing partnership. That's got to be worth encouraging.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man Utd - Official Match Thread
Maguire is a cart horse, and I got the impression Haller was scared of him, never challenged him once on the deck or in the air, now if Benrahma had been put up front in the middle then Maguire would have shit himself playing against someone with pace.

First half we pressed them which stopped there attacking style, second half we sat back and let them attack,

We played well, but it all comes down to the old truism that you have to take your chances.

When Martial limped off on roughly the hour mark, we were 1-0 up, but we should have been at least 3-0 up, and it’s not unrealistic to say 4 or 5-0 up. The dodgy goalkeeper’s clearance shouldn’t have mattered.

It has to be said, Man U took their chances very well. Greenwood’s was the most impressive for me. Nobody to blame, just a lethal striker doing his thing.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man Utd - Official Match Thread
Yeah, I felt gutted about that after the way we dominated them, but that's life. As others have said, I think we need a bit more cleverness in the centre of the field, so it's probably time that we replaced the hardworking Fornals with Benrahma.

fraser 3:12 Sun Dec 6
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man Utd - Official Match Thread
Fornals did hurry his shot but surely had to with a player directly in front of him, he prodded it through his legs clever and so close to being a brilliant finish.

Both of his chances created by the useless Haller who according to some contributed nothing.

Oh and Haller "s slip was offside.

We'll win games this season without playing anywhere near as well as we did in the first half yesterday. Been a while since a defeat has left me as gutted as i was last night, should have been all over by half time.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man Utd - Official Match Thread
Having seen the extended highlights again the number of excellent chances we had is probably our highest of the season.
A confident Haller would of put his first away then his second he didn't put enough of himself about to score almost an easier effort.
Fornals the same with his one that hit the post,he hurried his shot. His header was harder as he was running at full pelt, but still.
I still think Coufals was the game changer though. A goal then would of made the difference. A hard driven shot into the corner would of made Henderson have to parry the ball out if it didn't go in.I think Bowen was actually anticipating this and the reason for him not a milli second to late.
Wether or not the ball went out for a throw for Man U's first goal our momentum had started to flow away. Fernandes,Rashford , Greenwoods and even Pogba's class to hold.
Another point I feel is Henderson would of probably save Pogbas's strike. Fabianski is an excellent shot stopper but his lack of height ,reach and flexability is more apparant. A keeper like Henderson would of been an improvement. Nick Pope hsould be on our shopping list either in Jan or the summer. He almost certainly won't go in Jan but come the summer we need to make the effort to sign him.

Where I have a different opinion to some is that I don’t think we have anything near the squad strength and options to play any other way effectively. We have Soucek and Rice in central midfield but adequate replacements. Noble and Snoddy will try but are slower than And without the physicality. Lanzini, Benrahma are lightweight, creative types and more options to replace For als, Arthur or BOwen. You can’t risk starting them either as they do not provide defensive qualities and pressing so you would need a more conventional 4-4-2. But we have no viable left back other than switching Johnson IMO

GSB with the help of Pellegrini and before him Bilic ( albeit not many of his signings but more that he did not addressthe lack of pace and full backs either) has left us with a woefully inadequate squad. Moyes has been developing the team work and organisation to get the best out of about 14 players. 10 short of a full squad

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man Utd - Official Match Thread
This formation has worked well so far, but recently we are consistently getting outdone in the midfield. Rice and Soucek are brilliant but we need more bodies there. 4231 is ideal and we need to start looking for a proper lb.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man Utd - Official Match Thread
We paid the price for not taking our chances in the first half against a team that has won every away (including PSG) game this season. With Fornals hitting the post, finding the side netting and of course Haller auditioning for the role of Bambi on ice. United could not have complained if they were 4 down at half time. Obviously it helps when you have a 70M player in Fernandes to bring on and a quality striker like Rashford.

We have to take it on the chin and dust ourselves down and go again. Leeds will indeed be a test of our resolve and strength of character.
